There are many reasons why NBA 2K will be next-gen on PC shortly. The main advantage for PC users is the rapid growth of the PC gaming industry in recent years. Consumers are spending more and more on gaming hardware and accessories, according to a market analysis report by The NPD Group.
The PC gaming industry grew to over $5.74 billion in 2021 and is expected to grow to $10.8 billion this year. This is a key point, showing that the PC has gone from being a secondary platform to becoming the primary platform in many households.
Why 2K Games should bring the next-gen NBA 2K to PC:
- Currently, the PC is the primary gaming platform for many players. In addition, the emergence of new Steam Deck consoles has further enhanced the PC gaming space.
- Many PCs now have similar or even better performance than next-generation consoles.
- The NBA 2K mod community on PC is one of the most talented in sports video games. Over the past few years, we’ve seen how some modders can improve image aspects by highlighting details.
Why isn’t the next-gen NBA 2K23 coming to PC?
2K Games answered this question on NBA 2K23’s FAQ page:
“This is something the team is passionate about and will continue to investigate what is possible for the franchise in the future. For now, the focus was on assuring NBA 2K23 was optimized for the new consoles (PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S), while also making sure the experience remains fresh and innovative for players on other platforms.”
